2019 European Karate Championship – interesting stats

2019 European Karate Championship will take place in Vilnius “Siemens Arena” on 13-14 April. Both men and women will compete in 5 weight categories. KUMITE: women – up to 50, 50-55, 55-60, 60-65 and over 65 kg, men – up to 65, 65-75, 75-85, 85- 95 and over 95 kg. Women, men and teams will also be competing in KATA category.

“Karate is one of the most popular sports in Lithuania, we have many athletes belonging to the elite of the world, so the European Championship is a very welcome event and a real celebration for all our abundant community. I have no doubt that many top-level masters from all over the continent are going to come to Lithuania, providing all karate lovers a lot of great fights”, said Romas Vitkauskas, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the European Championship.

Numbers:

228 registered fighters from 24 European countries. In Kata – 60 participants in both divisions. The smallest number of participants are in Adults Women -50Kg – 11; the biggest number of fighters are in Adults Men 65-75Kg – 28.

The most anticipated fights are in Adults Men 75-85Kg with the kyokushin super star… the one and only… Valeri Dimitrov. He has 18 European titles (14 in different weight categories and 4 in open weight category – 2002, 2012, 2014, 2018).

This year I will skip my predictions lists, lets enjoy the fights and let’s the best prepared fighters win! Osu!
